Each unique hand woven Wayuu and Arhuaco mochilas with its symbolic patterns, represent the sacred connection between the forest and life. They hold as sacred, the love and respect for nature and all its inhabitants. The Guajira and Sierra Nevada in northern Colombia, is home to this mochila weaving tradition that dates back to ancestral times and is closely linked to the life and culture of these communities.
